Beaches, Big Buildings, Camels and Cars. Dubai has it all.

Dubai is first up on our travels and we sure did make the most of our time there. From chilling at the beaches to dune bashing the sandy deserts. We did stay longer than intended so our 5 day stay turned into an amazing whole week experience filled with activities.

Soaking up the sun and surroundings

After landing and a 3 hour nap at the hotel to catch up on the lack of sleep we had on the plane, we headed straight to the JBR beach. As we stayed in the Marina area the beach was only a short walk away. We spent lots of time there either relaxing for the day, grabbing some dinner in the evening or even a stroll. JBR Since last time I visited have built a whole new small island opposite the beach that we usually walked to at night, this is where the worlds largest wheel is located alongside many different restaurants and shops. The view of the beach and buildings all along the mainland is astonishing especially at night when all the buildings are lit up. In Dubai, it felt like we were constantly looking up at all the tall buildings just being so in awe of their size and the amount on tall buildings in one space.

Dune Bashing, Sand Boarding & Camel Riding

We wanted to experience the deserts that the UAE have to offer, so we booked a Dune Bashing, Sand Boarding & Camel Riding half day trip. If you hate bumpy car rides and being thrown around like a rag doll, Dune Bashing is not the activity for you my friend. Driving fast pace on steep desert hills at around a 45 degree angle or more and sand blasting around us was all fun and games for 15 minutes before I felt like I was going to see my breakfast a second time round. Luckily we stopped soon after I felt like I was going to be turned inside out for some Sand Boarding. Sand Boarding is basically Snow Boarding but on sand. I thought we were going to be sitting on flat tray-like boards like you do down a snowy park hill. But alas I was wrong, we were on actual boards and I think I did pretty well considering I face planted the floor on my first go as you can see in the video below. Roberto on the other hand was not so great at it ... sorry Rob! After catching my breath from running back up the hill with the sand boards and trying not to die in the car we ended our trip riding a Camel. Camels are way taller than you think they are if you haven’t seen one in person yet! The Camels are also decorated with knitted pom-pom necklaces.

Atlantis the Palm Aquaventure Waterpark

We had to go to a waterpark on our adventures so we went to Atlantis the Palm’s Aquaventure Waterpark. I have visited before and loved it so much I wanted to go again, so we did and we did it twice, but only due to the fact that we stayed a little longer than expected. Going down rapids and slides in a rubber dinghy in the hot sun, you cannot ask for more fun than that in my opinion.

The Dubai Mall & Burj Khalifa

We went to the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa with my Godmother. The Dubai Mall has everything you could ask for, if you go there looking for something in particular and leave not having found it then you clearly haven’t go into the right shop yet. From big designer brands to a shop basically equivalent to a pound shop that sells everything obscure you could think of, this mall has it all. The Dubai Mall is the biggest mall in the world where it also holds the biggest aquarium tank too. Alongside the mall you have the Burj Khalifa which I have been up before but was absolutely terrified of going up the second time around. I think all the Dune Bashing had rocked my brain a little. The weather was a bit misty/foggy when we went up but we still saw for miles! This day was by far my favourite in Dubai. And a massive thank you to my Godmother Heather and Graham if you‘re reading this!

Food

Food, food, food, food, food, now what can I say about food in Dubai? Well just like everything else in Dubai the food is MASSIVE! Don’t get me wrong the food is so good and tasty but they sure do serve you up a large for everything. The Cheesecake Factory, Eggspectation and Nandos are the 3 key restaurants that had something special to offer. And yes you read that right Nandos, and this is only because you don’t actually have to get up and go ask for your food like you would in the UK. UK Nando’s please up your game! But also this was my first encounter of a lemon mint drink which is literally what it says it is and it was delish. Will definitely be making my own in the future. As for The Cheesecake Factory this has been recommended to me last time I visited as well as this time round. So we actually went to see what the deal was. It was huge portions of food and drinks for a fraction of what we felt we should of been paying. Eggspectation was recommended to us as an option for breakfast. They did more than just eggs as the name of the restaurant suggests. We had two different meals, a salmon, cream cheese and rocket bagel and a scrambled eggs with sausage, french toast and lyonnaise potatoes which came with both dishes. All in all the food was amazing!
