Palm Vaults

Costa is my go-to place for a cup of hot chocolate, iced coffee, a slice of cake or a quick catch up with my friends, but with the rise of independent cafés and restaurants with their quirky decor and food creations, I can't help but find these new places and check them out for myself. I found out about Palm Vaults on Instagram and was intrigued by the tropical Miami decor with hanging plants from the ceiling, I thought it was a unique style for a small coffee shop on what seemed like a boring Hackney high street. So, after a whole year of finally having some free time to go and being in London I went with a friend to check it out.

Palm Vaults is what they call an 'Instagrammable' café just like Elan Cafe, Peggy Porschen, Grind, Saint Aymes and more, they have attractive looking food, pretty decor with either flowers, plants or neon signs and it is different, quirky and looks better than a Pret, Starbucks or Costa. These 'Instagrammable' places are designed for experience more than just grabbing a hot drink to go. Anyway, back to what I was saying! We got seated immediately when we arrived. Palm Vaults was covered in hanging potted plants, paintings, mirrors, flowers in glass vases, it wasn't too small and the table and chairs were not all cramped together like in some other places. It was clean and the service was fast, friendly and they didn't seem too stressed at all which made the atmosphere really relaxed. Laptops are not allowed which created a nice vibe to the place, people were actually talking to each other. I think this works well considering there is only about 10 tables that range from 2 seaters to 6, it prevents people from spending all day there giving the opportunity for other people to enjoy time at Palm Vaults.

I didn't get much for food and drink only a croissant and a rose latte as I didn't want to try too much before I knew if I actually like the food. And the food did taste pretty good, so next time I go I am planning to have a meal of some sort. They have lots of choice, from a wide range of breakfasts, smoothies, lunch options, cake and drinks and they are reasonably priced too. You can also get hot drinks to take away as well as fresh cakes and pastries.

I will for sure be returning to Palm Vaults soon to try some more of their food and enjoy the calm, relaxed atmosphere that me and my friend had on the day.
