I use a mixture between products that really get into my skin to draw the oils out of my face and softer products to avoid drawing the good oils out of my face every single day. My next blog post will be about the softer products but today it is about the what I like to call 'Deep Cleansing Products'. These products I use after a day of heavy make-up, being out in London where the pollution is high or if my skin has been really oily, usually on hotter days. All of these products are from The Body Shop, which is great because they are all natural or have ingredient of natural origin and are reasonably priced for the quality!
I use two masks from The Body Shop. The Seaweed Oil-Balancing Clay Mask and the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask. The Seaweed mask is a thick consistency and dark grey when wet and lightens up once it is dry. The mask balances out the oils on my face and sometimes I can even see where the oil has been dragged out from my pours. It leaves my face feeling the smoothest out of the two masks even though when applied it feels the tightest. The Tea Tree masks helps me with the blemishes that I have on the sides of my cheeks from acne when I was younger. The Tea Tree mask helps to soothe my face and calm down the angry red blemishes that spring up on my cheeks from time to time. It is difficult to tell if this mask has dried fully or not as it looks like it almost vanishes off my face sometimes. The texture compared to the Seaweed mask is much thinner and this is why it can be difficult to tell. My top tip on applying masks that come in a tub is to use a brush and wash it thoroughly in hot water after use. I don't like the idea of fingers in mask tubs no matter how clean your hands are you still don't know what it lurking underneath your nails.
The Body Shop's Tea Tree collection is designed to help combat oily skin, blemishes and blackheads. I mainly stick with these products the most as I know it works well for my skin. For the mornings I use their Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash and also the Mattifying Toner, in that order as my face is so oily when I wake up. The facial wash has a thick-ish soft gel-like consistency that foams up slightly when worked into the face, it lasts a lifetime and a little goes along way. The mattifying toner does what it says it is. After applying the facial wash, I will usually go over my face with the toner on a cotton pad to get off any oil or dirt I missed and it leaves me looking slightly less too shiny.
One of my friends actually introduced me to the Tea Tree 3-in-1 Wash, Scrub, Mask and I have not failed on buying another one when my one runs out over and over again. Thank's Nikisha for telling me about it! Its consistency is a thick-ish paste with small granule like particles. Although you can use this as a wash to remove excess oil or a mask to mattify the skin, I mostly use it as a scrub to really unclog those oil filled pours after a long day. The Squeaky Clean Scrub is not as harsh as the 3-in-1 and is softer for my skin if I do need to scrub my face more than usual. The particles in the product are not as big or as rough so that means I can use it more often when my skin is very oil without worrying about the products being too rough on my skin.
Here is a photo of my skin now after using these products consistently, and a reminder that all skin has texture and is not perfect no matter how many products you use or buy and that everyone has beautiful skin!
