Since working at LUSH I have learnt so much about the store, it's ethics, products, tips, tricks and so much more. There is a great deal of amazing things to know about LUSH but here are some little things that I didn't know about LUSH that really blew my mind.
In the gift boxes there are packaging peanuts, however these aren’t just normal plastic ones they are eco-flo chips. The eco-flo chips have a potato starch base, this means that if you run them under the tap, they dissolve right in front of you like magic.
The shower gel and shampoo bottles although range in different sizes are actually all made out of the exact same amount of plastic. The plastic is just stretched to the exact size needed to create the bottle.
Lush haven't had to make a brand-new black pot since 2013! All the black pots are remade from previously used and recycled pots that customers bring back into store. So next time you have 5 black or clear pots, bring them back to Lush for a free fresh face mask and to contribute to creating new pots and saving the planet.
The surfaces in Lush that you see with water bowls in are actually made out of bottle tops. So if you see a dark blue or white/cream coloured surface it is 100% bottle tops. How amazing is that? We also collect bottle tops that cannot be recycled in your area so bring them in!
If you love Lush and want to see how every single bath bomb looks in the water, you now can. Anyone can download the app Lush Labs to their phone, this gives you the opportunity to snap a picture of our products and instantly the app can tell you the price, sizes, ingredients and some have small videos on how they work and what it looks like in the water.
Lush have a women’s co-operative in Bolgatanga, Ghana. The women help create Lush's Shea butter that is in the products. This co-operative provides the women with an income throughout the whole year, along with funding and financial schemes that can help them open up their own businesses and support them and their family.
